- Second generation of OneWeb satellites, due to be in service in 2024-25, will include positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) facilities, designed to allow the company to compete with other satellite navigation services such as the EU’s Galileo, Russia’s Glonass and the US’s GPS.
- OneWeb to resume satellite launches through agreement with SpaceX. The first launch with SpaceX is anticipated in 2022 and will add to OneWeb’s total in-orbit constellation that currently stands at 428 satellites, or 66 percent of the fleet. OneWeb's network will deliver high-speed, low-latency global connectivity.
- Eutelsat has combined its geostationary satellite business with OneWeb’s low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation after shareholders voted Sept 2023 in favor of the all-share deal. OneWeb will operate as a subsidiary of the French operator called Eutelsat OneWeb and its center of operations will remain in London.
- Ground delays holding back Eutelsat’s global LEO broadband services, SpaceNews, 2024-01-29.
- Eutelsat orders 100 LEO satellites to replenish OneWeb constellation, 2024-12-17. The first batches of satellites are due to be completed before the end of 2026. Will include “key technology upgrades,” particularly around terrestrial 5G integration.
