- With additional launches planned in 2021 and 2022, HawkEye 360 plans to create a constellation of seven three-satellite clusters, offering customers the ability to revisit radio frequency activity anywhere on Earth at 40-minute intervals.
- The launch of Cluster 6 will mean HawkEye 360 will have placed 15 next-generation satellites into orbit within two years. This rapid pace will continue in 2023, with Cluster 7 anticipated to launch in February and Clusters 8 and 9 mid-year. Once Cluster 6 is commissioned, HawkEye 360 will be able to collect RF data as frequently as every hour anywhere in the world.
- Virginia-based HawkEye 360 plans to have 60 satellites — 20 clusters of three satellites — on orbit by 2025.
- Remote-sensing satellite operator HawkEye 360 is the latest to experience problems in orbit, due to an “irreparable” failure of propulsion systems made by Austria-based Enpulsion, compounded by high solar activity. “The Cluster 4 spacecraft are currently operating at an orbital altitude of approximately 477 km, as a result of failures in the propulsion systems of each of the Cluster 4 spacecraft,” the company said in its request. “The company has unsuccessfully tried to remedy these failures and recently concluded that the propulsion system failures are irreparable.” TechCrunch, 2023-08-09.
- A dozen additional HawkEye 360 satellites are scheduled to launch in 2024, 2023-12-18.
